What's new

Fencing.Click โ€” v6.35

v6.35

New: Tools โ€” four fencing calculators

  • Points Simulator: promotion rate is now entered as a percentage (e.g. 75), matching every other tool โ€” it previously took a 0โ€“1 fraction.
  • Cleaner Points Simulator and Points & DE-Wins Calculator: essentials up front, the scoring model in collapsible sections, results grouped by DE wins โ€” and form fields are now readable in dark mode on all tools.
  • A new Tools section (no session needed): the Competition Calculator shows how many fencers advance, the tableau size and byes, and the poule split for any field size.
  • Enter your post-poule seed to see your projected opponent each round all the way to the final โ€” instantly, in all four languages.
  • Three more tools join it โ€” a Points Simulator, a Points & DE-Wins Calculator, and a DE-Wins Visualizer โ€” all reachable from the ๐Ÿงฎ button in the top bar.
v6.32

Final-ranking fixes & smoother sideways scrolling

  • Fix: a tableau from an earlier round now shows its full bracket in the final ranking (it could come up empty).
  • The final ranking no longer draws the completion bar behind names in the poules โ€” on a finished session it was always full.
  • Wide poules, tableaux and rankings now fade at the edge when there's more to scroll sideways; on phones the poule keeps the fencer-name column pinned.
v6.31

About page, translations & the Red Lion

  • Roadmap: the eliminated box now sits beside each round with cleaner arrows, and an arrow carries the cut fencers on into the final ranking.
  • Elimination moved to the decision board: a red "Eliminate" button on each group sends the bottom seeds (position picked in the dropdown, with a live %) into the E-box. The old config-wizard cut slider is gone.
  • Integrity guard (admin): a warning shows if a fencer who finished a round is no longer attached to any group, ranking, draft or E-box โ€” the "lost fencer" bug is now detectable.
  • Eliminated fencers now form their own "E-A / E-B" box beside each group. A cut fencer (โœ—) can be dragged back into a group to re-enter (at the seed where you drop them); injured/left stay locked out.
  • Injured/left (X) is now distinct from eliminated: unranked, listed at the bottom, and their tableau place disappears (everyone below moves up). The roadmap shows a per-round exit box.
  • Eliminations are permanent now: an X in a tableau gives the opponent a walkover V and the forfeiting fencer sinks to the bottom of the bracket; the roadmap marks rounds with a red โœ— count.
  • Eliminated fencers stay in their group (they follow merges) and appear in the final ranking behind the fencers who kept fencing.
  • V5โ€“5 auto-corrects to V5โ€“4, continuing after a dropout works again, and eliminated fencers can be dragged back into a group.
  • A new About page โ€” what the site is, how it works, who it's for โ€” with a teaser on the landing page (4 languages).
  • This changelog is now fully translated and always shows the latest version.
  • The Luxembourgish flag is the official Red Lion ensign.
  • Refreshed built-in hints โ€” including a guide for the new score wheel.
  • Bug fix: withdrawn or eliminated fencers can no longer slip back into the next round.
  • Latecomers now count everywhere (roadmap, seed history), and final places are group-local.
  • Under the hood: atomic database writes, stricter score validation and an admin data-health check.
v6.0

Mobile scoring & live sync

  • Enter scores on your phone with a flick-wheel โ€” spin a drum from โ€œโ€“โ€ to the touch limit; it wraps around, and you can flick, tap, drag or use the mouse wheel.
  • The winner's V and loser's D sit right in front of the score, and every fencer shows their seed pill.
  • Everything syncs live between the organizer's board and the fencers' phones โ€” scores, resets and progress bars update without a reload, in both directions.
  • The elimination tableau uses the same wheel.
  • Progress bars are graded against the whole group's pace (blue on pace, red behind), with a โ€œbouts leftโ€ counter.
v5.6

Languages & board polish

  • French, German and Luxembourgish are back, with a compact flag switcher in the top bar.
  • A new crossed-swords icon and brand mark.
  • Tidier poule board: square score cells, a bout-order number spine, and one unified progress-bar style everywhere.

Rounds & roadmap

  • Run a tournament round by round โ€” continue, reseed or finalize each group independently.
  • A visual roadmap card shows the whole flow: groups, merges/splits and finals.
  • Cut the weakest seeds before a round with a slider; eliminated fencers keep a final position and can still follow along.
  • Once a round is put online it can't be rolled back โ€” with a clear warning first.

Results & performance score

  • A richer final ranking: seed sparklines showing each fencer's journey, an average-seed column, touch indicators, and a sortable table with the name frozen on scroll.
  • Per-fencer bout details, with the tableau round shown in front of the score.
  • An experimental FPI performance score, colour-graded and explained in hover hints.

Groups & elimination tableau

  • Split the field into parallel strength groups, each with its own format and touch limit.
  • A full direct-elimination tableau: byes resolved through the bracket, rank-ordered bouts and a placement bracket; drag to swap seeds.

Poules & live scoring

  • Live poule matrices with keyboard / paper-style entry and fast pair entry.
  • Per-fencer progress, a per-pool time estimate and finish clock, and a sticky jump bar between pools.

Setup wizard

  • Create a session in seconds โ€” no account, just a share code and QR.
  • A step-by-step setup: add participants, set the pre-ranking / seeding, choose the format, put it online.
  • Latecomers slot into the best-fit pool, with live name suggestions as fencers join.
